N62 VANOS solenoid(s)

I know there is one on each timing cover, but does anyone know if they're easily accessible to clean/replace?

Do I need a special socket for to remove it? (I know you need a special socket on the M62 but I couldn't find out if it's needed for the N62.

I'm trying to hunt down a 2A84 code I got yesterday

Thanks fellas

those are the actuators for the timing not the vanos .....I wouldn't pull them out if You don't know about the engine.......

Dully noted.

Isn't there some kind of vanos related sensor that's in the front bank that can be cleaned or something?

Yes go to any BMW dealer parts list and look up the part that You want to replace.
Do You have a code reader?

Should I just replace the bank 2 CPS and go from there?

And if so, which one, aren't there two that are right next to each other? How do I know which one to replace?

Also, bank 2 is the right side if you're standing in front of the motor right?

(thank you for helping me)

I read that thread already top to bottom already and I saw that he fixed it but his issue was swapped CPS sensors and his car ran really rough and bucked. Doesn't really seem like it applies to my situation
