New 2004 x5 Owner need help with side mirror
I just purchased a 2004 x5 with 60k miles 1 owner garage kept and dealer serviced. Not sure if I didn't notice it before but I think someone clipped my side mirror driver side, There's no broken pieces but the outer casing popped off of the housing that holds the actual mirror Just worried that water could get In there so really want to clip it back together Does anyone have any experience with this or a trick to getting it clipped back together? Any info is very much appreciated Thanks Bjorn Marshall in Seattle |

nice grab on an '04 with 60k miles
this site and 'search' is your friend. There are hundreds upon hundreds of posts for mirrors and various types of mirrors. So you will have to be more specific as to the type of mirror you are discussing as well as more specific on your concern. Is the housing cracked or are you worried on how to reattach it?
here is a video (for xoutpost by the way) on youtube that demonstrates how easily the outer protective shell of the mirror can be removed. if this is your mirror type, re-installation is revers so long as housing/casing and clips were not damaged. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsxDsxR90UM Youtube will have hundreds of other videos that may assist but it sounds like you are simply concerned on the water issue and how to reattach?

The plastic mirror cover is held on by molded in clips. Might just snap back together. The clips can be broken pretty easily, though. The covers are available in primer from the dealer or you might get lucky and find one in your color on eBay

Thanks. I was able to snap it back together. I didn't realize the black part was all out of alignment so once I got that part snapped in the outer shell went in easily.
I tried the search on YouTube and here but mostly found full mirror replacement or the whole side mirror. The video you posted helped me realize what was wrong so I thank you -Bjorn |
