Thumbs up This X5 v8 Spark plug replacement DIY youtube video saved me!

I was stuck on how to replace the spark plugs on my 4.4 x5 2005. I could not find X5 4.4 N62 engine DIY instructions for this on any X5 forums and was stuck- Bentely and TIS are at best sketchy on the V8 N62 engines. However, this absolutely awesome youtube video saved me!

I was surprised that at 92K miles, the original spark plugs were still quite clean! I also replaced the fuel filter and my wife says the car has tremendously improved in performance. I also noticed some improvement but thought it was in my head but she drives it most of the times.

Here is the video:

Which the OP clearly pointed out in his first post......................

BTW: the E60 5-series Bentley has the detailed N62 info in it if you need to get deeper than the spark plugs.

Good video and yes thx for posting it!

I just did this job on my 2005 4.8is (N62B48) and will note few items that worked for me:

6" extension and a spark plug socket worked but several of the plugs I had to disconnect the extension then reconnect it after putting the socket into plug hole

on drivers side I was able to just lift the water valves out of the mount instead of removing the mount bolts but it was snug

on pass side remove washer reservoir the 10mm plastic nuts, disconnect water tube going to front windshield sprayers, put your finger over the pump outlet since the water will drain, lift the reservoir tank and balance it on the air filter leaning back as not to drain from the disconnected pump

note conditions of your old plugs as you remove, label if any are different condition.

When you reinstall the coil packs they need to be oriented in same exact position as they were to start or the boot does not sit perfectly flat, if it is not flag the coil wire will not easily reconnect to coil. Have to go by feel on most of them but you can see the boot seal sitting flat on passenger front side.

Changing the plugs was a reasonable job on this motor, honestly easier than on some minivans like Sienna where the rear 3 are all by feel.
