Rear Cupholder Repair?

So, the dog gets excited and steps down on the [open] rear cupholder. Now it folds down [bad!], but won't slide back into its cubbyhole. Sigh. I did a quick search and hear the replacement part is spendy; anyone fix one of these things and have advice? I've seen the youtube on getting the dam thing out [basically, disassemble the center console] and hoped I wouldn't have to go that far .... Thx

I was able to find a way to put it back together after our son some time ago stepped on it.No idea how I got it back working.

Well, that gives me some confidence. A little. I'm assuming you had to disassemble the console to remove it and figure it out?

Send pics of the broken part once removed. I can "fix anything" I can come up with a way to repair vs. replace.
