Yes, why yes it can. From my experience at the shop I was at you can multiply any service from an E53 by at least a factor of 2. $100 oil change becomes at least $200 (sometimes more) as an example.

One of my friends neighbor has a ML550 and he looked at my 4.8is, he was like I hate my parents Mercedes , I love your BMW,but my parents won't pay me one........event though the Mercedes has 30 more bhp and also is 8" taller ,it looks like a Mommy Moble ..........My 4.8is is way cooler and more fun to DRIVE................

Service really isn't an issue. My son is an ASCE Master Tech... He does all of my work, all I have to do is feed him! He also works at a parts store , which helps a lot.

He's been working on my Boxster S since I bought it... Generally can do what the dealer states as flat rate time, in 1/3 the time... and does it right!

***

ok,

So I am considering a 3 pedal GTS if I can find one.... Did a lot of investigating this weekend...

I have to try one before any decision is made tho...

stay tuned!

Since you are still looking and have been a Porsche guy and it sounds like you want to be more engaged in your driving, a manual GTS is an all around great vehicle. I think that will be an excellent choice and you won't have seller's remorse. You are prepared to move on.

Time will tell....

I would assume the resale value of a 3 pedal would be less? Maybe cheaper to buy as well... I know , up here anyway, BMW X5 3 pedals are always much less money than 2 pedal....

I really like my X5! If I had one dislike it would be the steering, do not get me wrong, I don't want Chevy full power, no feel steering, but I would like
a little bit more assist...

^Honestly because of the extreme rarity of a 3 pedal 'Pepper, I don't think it would be any less.

Its not like you can exactly tell a seller "I'll just find another one"...

Exactly. "Go find another one" is what I'd say.

In my semi recent nation wide search for a 3 pedal X5, they all seemed to go very quick regardless of price. At no point did they seem cheaper than the automatic variants, and some times even more.

I still lament the lack of 3 pedal 8 cylinders in the X5.
