Tire size for Style #87 wheels?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20-In...spagenameZWDVW Couple of questions. 1) Is this a good price for replicas? 2) What tire sizes will go on this staggered setup? I am told 275/40/20 in the front and 315/35/20 in the rear. Those rears seem awefully wide! 3) Will this be a lot worse for gas mileage? I would rather go with the same wheel and tire size all around so I can rotate. Can I have the 20x10.5 wheels all around with 315/35/20 tires, will they fit with no rubbing issues? Could be an agressive look with those wide tires all around. |

Yes you can put 315's all the way around, no rubbing. They fit fine. I have a few posts with pics of my X with the 315's on all four. 315's are the correct tire width for 10.5 inch wide rims.
Go with the AFS on Ebay and get the tires installed by them. I have two AFS rims with tires they mounted and they are wonderful. They are a bit brighter than the stock rims but they look great! I have the Toyo Proxes S/T's and I really like them. I have my rear camber neutralized to help the rear tires wear evenly. Additionaly, the non-staggered set up allows me to rotate my tires. These two things will prevent the noise that is sometimes associated with the Toyo's due to uneven wear. |

Thanks for the reply, it was very helpful. I have searched through several posts and could not find your side with the 315's all around. Also what was the aspect ratio on yours. 315/30 OR 315/35. Can you direct me to pick of those all around in your case?
I found http://www.janixworld.com/x5/Wheels/ Man that looks sick! I would love those black 20's on my blk/blk X! However, he did 315/30/20. I would really prefer 315/35/20 as it will give it a little more height and looks more rugged, after all its an SUV so I dont want that low a profile. My questions is will 315/35 RUB when you turn full at 10mph? |

The tires are 315/35/20 The tires do not rub, not at 10mph, not at all. Get them! |

I'm totally convinced that this is what I need. I'm going to go with 315/35/20 all around its gonno be awesome! Have you done the wider fender flares up front? I think that will make it look nice. Also, how can I order all 4 wide 1.5 inch rims and they can sell me mounted tires on those as well?

I have stock flares up front but I think they would work well with the wide 315's. Contact AFS I bargained with them to get a set of 10.5's with 315 Toyos. I think I was $940 shipped so you should figure $1,900 to $2,000.
Wow, Just looked on Ebay and it seems AFS is not carrying BMW wheels (????) If you look at their Ebay store they still sell wheels for other makes but not the BMW wheels. I sent them an email to find out if they are still selling BMW wheels...... |

I'd stay away from repli-junk wheels. Do a search on them and you'll find plenty of complaints:
BTW, putting 315's up front is not only going to look stupid, but it'll make the car wander more on the hiway. There is no logical reason to run this kind of setup. |

The AFS rims that I bought were perfect and I have not seen anyone else on here with problems with AFS. Great customer service, round, awsome finish and they weigh the same as OEM. There are bad replica rims but from my research and experience AFS sells a good product. I could understand if you said you do not like replicas solely based on the fact that they are not OEM. That would actually make sense. As to looking stupid I guess you have a bit of an opinion on that. I happen to love the look of the wider 315's. I think the staggerd look is weak. Nice job talking out of your ass regarding road wander, my X5' drives perfectly. There is no reason not to run this set up. Additionaly, I think it is really stupid not to be able to rotate the tires. I can rotate mine which helps even the wear, as a result the tires last longer. Sounds pretty smart to me........ If you personally don't dig the look... fine but don't give someone shit advice. Last edited by 2002Silver4.6is; 10-12-2007 at 05:02 PM. |

Just for the hell of it I did a search on here for AFS to see if I missed any negative posts. I could only find one guy who bought AFS rims and had two tires blow out. That cannot be attributed to the rims from my perspective. All of the other posts regarding AFS rims were quite positive. I do not think you can lump all of the replica manufacturers together.
I do not have experience with any other replica rims and Madforce is correct that many of them suck and have recieved many negative posts. Get the 315's!! |

I took a chance and purchased a set of 87's w/ toyos from these guys: http://myworld.ebay.com/ebaymotors/c...ut_the_garage/
I received a nice set of staggered wheels. They were packaged securely, balanced nice and had very very minimal flaws. Also, I sent them a low "best offer" figure on that particular auction listing and they took it! Must of been slow times. Many members here purchase from AFS and I have never read any complaints about them. Last edited by zerochief; 10-12-2007 at 05:13 PM. |
