My turn signals stopped working along with other problems.

I replaced the bulbs on my 2004 X5 3.0 Still no turn signal. No blinking in the dash or click sounds. The hazards do work though. Any help would be appreciated. I have a list of other possible electrical/computer problems but my priority is getting some turn signal action so I can atleast drive it on the road.

Other issues are:
1) Alarm engages but does not lock the doors
2) Passenger front window does not work.
3) Rear passenger door does not open

Kinda annoyed by these issues. I had the dealer look at the vehicle because both rear doors stopped working. When I got it back is when problems #1 and #2. They got one rear door working in the rear.

I did replace the battery last winter with a new Autocraft battery from Advanced Auto. It wasn't the cheapest one either, I went with the "Premium version" replacement is it possible this could be the problem since I did not go OEM? I am pretty adamant about using OEM parts in my BMW's but thought a battery is a battery. The battery has been discharged a few times because I have been barely driving it since last Winter.

The first thing I'd do is check the battery's voltage (is your cluster unlocked? if yes, do TEST 9 to check your battery voltage). If a battery has been discharged multiple times...it could have permanent damage...it may not be holding a good charge. A battery with 11.89 volts or below...is at 0% state of charge. The battery may not be totally dead (dash & interior lights may illuminate, radio can turn on, horn will blow)...but could not have enough power to keep all the electronics and control modules running...and the vehicle will go into a type of rolling brown-out where certain electronics will begin to act up. (think of a boxer that has been hit hard in the head and the electrical synapses are not connecting...causing the boxer to be woosy, see stars, or loose coordination).

Also, the problem wouldn't be that the battery is not OE (BMW brand)...but typing "premium version" is vague in that you could have a premium version battery that is under powered for the X5.

Check which battery class size you purchased from Advanced. If it is smaller than a 49/H8 or 94R/H7...the issue could be an underpowered/underspeced battery.

The e53 X5 uses a 49/H8 battery class size...and that is what you look for in a replacement battery. Not so much name...but battery class size and specs.

You can see in the chart below from East Penn what their 49/H8 battery class size specs are for a regular lead acid battery or AGM battery. There are 4 major specs to look at for comparison purposes...some times not all 4 specs are listed on the battery's label...but you can usually get the gist from what "is" listed:
  • cold cranking amps (CCA)
  • cranking amps (CA)
  • reserve capacity (RC)
  • amp hour (AH)

If all 4 bulbs light on the hazard flasher, but none on the turn signals, I'd look to the turn signal switch as the culprit, making sure you're getting power to it as the first issue.

2002 X5 3.0 290,000 miles
2004 325i 123,000 miles
