X-Drive diff and transfer case oil change time?

2006 4.4 with 135K kms. Is it time to do a transfer case and diff oil change? What oils do they take and is there a sticky on the procedure? I've not spent a whole lot of time under my car and all works as it should, but I'm thinking 'preventative maintenance' is the key to avoiding big repair bills. Suggestions and advice from others that have done this would be appreciated. TIA.

I would do it, but please realize that you MUST use only the factory x-drive fluid and you need to reset the x-drive adaptations once you change the oil. If you don't have the INPA software (or equivalent), then this is a job best left to your independent BMW repair shop.

Or you could do the drain and fill yourself which is an easy DIY, and then take it to someone w/INPA or an indy for the adaptations reset.

Like Ranger said, you do have to use the OEM X Drive fluid which is quite spendy but fortunately you only need to buy one liter of it.

Just did on my 3.0 while changing whole clutch. @ 124k miles fluids were so dirty, its scary. I used liquid molly synthetic for transfer case everything else oem, got everything from fpc euro. Please keep in mind that you will need a extra large torx sockets t60 or so, 2 different sizes. If you pm me your cell phone or email, i can take pictures of few pages of bentley manual. That have to do with procedure.. You should., also, arm yourself with torque wrench, since cases are not made out of steel/iron few "a little more tight" may result in stripped tread...

I have ordered INPA Ediabas DIS v57 SSS v32 Progman GT1 from the Romanian eBay seller. I assume this is what I need to reset adaptation values to the transfer case, after the fluid change. I've never used this before, so I may seek some guidance when I get to this stage.
Many thanks for all the replies to my post.

After the transfer case fluid change, I never did the adaptation thingy.
Car works fine w/o this software thingy.
