Unhappy Erratic Monitor Problem

My 2005 E53 has a monitor that works most of the time but goes blank and then refreshes itself. I am not aware of any functions not working yet and wondered if cleaning up some connections might help?

Mine has been doing the same thing over the last couple months. The radio will still work, but other functions will go away, or the screen will lock up even though the controls work. It also seems the OBC is rebooting itself on occasion, which causes the screen to go completely blank and then bring up the splash screen and warning.

Further information

Thanks for your response. I do not understand some of the terminology but you have reminded me that it appears to reboot and goes back to the BMW screen before restarting, is this the splash screen? I suspect the frequency with which this is occurring is increasing.

Mine started this exact issue a couple months ago and occurs at random. Entire interface locks up and will reset then lock up again. Just this past weekend it said there was a map cd/DVD error then froze, restarted and froze again. I am wondering if it has anything to do with my duplicated map DVD that was recently installed. I ejected the dvd and installed the old dvd, it booted up quickly and is still working. Will be keeping my eye on it.....

Interesting. I will look into that, too. I also have a duplicated map DVD I bought on eBay. I hadn't thought about that as a possible issue.

I too got my duplicate disc from a seller on eBay. This concern only started after I started using the disc so now given your same issues and that you are using an eBay duplicate leads me to believe that is the issue. Hopefully it's that easy. So much for trying to save a few bucks on map software.......
