Does anyone know what this hose is under the intake manifold?

While trying to R&R the oil seperator (so far, what a PITA), I found this hose that ends just under the intake manifold and is not connected to anything. Does anyone know what this is? Is it just a breather hose or should something be connected?

Thanks for the help. J

That's the transmission breather hose/tube, but since it is a bit hard to see if it's near the front or rear of the engine bay it could also be the differential breather hose/tube.

It is the breather hose for the front differential. If you follow it all the way down (assuming you have all the other crap in there removed) you'll be able to confirm the same thing. After I replaced my oil separator I was left with that as well and scratching my head wondering how the heck I missed hooking something back up....until I traced it down that is.

Hey that's the thing you need to move slightly! See how there is a screw right about the clip for that tube? I took that out. Also, in your first pic, there is a plastic thing immediately to the right of your hand, with some tubes coming out of it. Detach that from its position and you should be able to get a hand in there to the seperator. I think I used a torx tool that has a few that fold into the main body to get a good angle on it.

Sorry to raise an old post, but I stumbled on this while doing my oil separator. Just so I am clear, that hose does not hook up to anything under the manifold?? I see that it attaches to the front differential, but I feel strange just having a hose hanging out not connected up top?

If it's the diff one it needs to be open. It vents to atmo.

Just answered this question Friday....along with multiple diagrams of the various vent hoses around the vehicle....here's a direct link: http://www.xoutpost.com/1075604-post5.html
