I suggest the Tekonsha Prodigy RF version - no wiring, you install the receiver on your trailer and plug in the sending unit in the cig lighter/accessory outlet up front. Otherwise, the wiring is a PITA. Search for 'prodigy,' there are a couple of threads where the subject is discussed in detail.

I have the prodigy rf myself but installing a hard wired brake controller means u have to run 2 blue wires. One from passemger side front footwell to controller and the other fron controller all way to rear park module and you need to buy a bmw pin out conecction to plug into hitch module harness.
