2004 4.8iS loud tick when cold

Hi guys. I have had my X for about 6-7 months now. There are no leaks whatsoever and the car runs perfectly fine. Only thing I have noticed is that when first started there is a loud tick, kind of sounds like a lifter, that goes away once she is warmed up good. Now the car has 0-40 weight oil in it. Can I put some 10-40 or some other weight oil in and see if this fixes the tick? I am a newbie to the X5 so wasn't sure about changing oil viscosity on these.
