Where to buy replacement alternator parts??

In the latest of issues surrounding my X5 in fail safe mode... My alternator is only putting out 13.5volts instead of 14.6 and under load it drops right away which is not right either. I'm going to replace the battery which is a 'Canadian Proof' garbage battery made from recycled lead out of China. Interstate battery for my vehicle will be replacing it. sigh...

Anyways, if anyone knows if replacement parts for the alternator are available, please let me know as I have a shop lined up which will hopefully be able to get it back up and running properly and hopefully fix my limp mode bullshit.

13.5 doesn't seem bad. Determine if you have a Bosch or a Valeo alternator. The regulator/brush holders are not the same. eBay is a good source. Buy only genuine Bosch or Valeo replacement parts.

I like FCPEuro because of their lifetime warranty. But I'm not sure how convenient they would be since you're in Canada.

FWIW, mine only cranks out 13.8-14. Although I have a 3.0.

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
After my battery change, at idle mine is usually from 13-13.5 - sometimes while driving it goes up to 13.8 but not often, usually holding around 13.5 - at idle it can dip to around 13.0 with seat heat and IHKA on - should I be looking into a new alternator? Don't want to wreck the new Bosch AGM lol

There was an article in ROUNDEL some years ago detailing how to fit a common diode into the alternator sensor ground circuit (If memory serves.) to lift the charging voltage from 13.85 volts max to 14 volts. It may be quoted somewhere online. When I ran a constant voltage check over a period of months not long after purchase I found 13.85V to be the maximum voltage.

What original alternator are we talking here? The 180A Valeo's should be putting out 14.5ish. Not sure on the smaller ones used on the 3.0's.
