Accidentally cleared my ECM?

So I was going through and re-enabling my DRL's through the ECM, as well as turning off the hot and cold checks for my high beams so I can use LED's without the flicker and dash error message. I had already turned off the hot and cold checks, and disabled the DRL's all together a couple weeks back. Well, now that I have my LED bulbs, I was turning the DRL's back on. While I was at it, I was going to disable the steering wheel auto adjustment when the car turns on or off, well, I have inadvertanly somehow cleared the ECM, at least that is my guess, as when I try to query the ECM, it gives me an error contacting the IKE. Any thoughts on this? Is there anyway to restore the ECM without taking it to the dealer?

Please elaborate.

Clearing/defaulting an ECM is not easily achievable......changing algorithm....more likely.

What software are you using?

I also want to mention that now, after it tells me that it can not contact the IKE, when I run a scan of the car, I no longer see all the modules that showed up before this happened.

Modules won't communicate if battery charge/condition is low.

PA Soft wont properly launch either....or any BMW diagnostic software for that matter.

Now, not really sure here what you did with the module you've incorrectly coded.

Don't know if you can.......since you mention all modules are not responding......Maybe a screenshot of the window where you've made changes......

I guess....a replacement from the wreckers.... with similar model/year....just to get you going again.

Jopecasa, you are actually exactly correct, I found out that my battery was pretty much completely drained. I' don't know how it drained so quickly, but I took it to a local Autozone and they tested it and it had no charge. They charged it up for me and tested it, the battery tested good. I was out there for like an hour with the laptop, so I guess it may have drained. I put the now fully charged battery back in and was able to start the car. My remote, lock/unlock does not work, but I have not yet re-scanned the modules, It's late so I'll have to do that first thing tomorrow, now that the battery is fully charged I hope they show back up..
I didn't think the battery would be drained, but now it makes a lot more sense..

Lcm I think is what you mean? Light control module is the module you would be coding to achieve your wanted outcome.

What year and make do you have? I have two different lcm files and might be able to help you. I have inpa, ncs expert, and ista.

I'm in Oregon City.

Hi Heli, no it says it can not contact the IKE, this is where is gets the car info from, the LCM no longer even shows up as a module. It's a 2002 X5 early build, I believe 05/2002.
What I'm afraid of is if I somehow damaged one or more of the modules. Not sure if this is possible with a software change, but I'm not sure at this point.
