Resale value

How would resale value be effected by an engine swap to a lower mile engine?

Better if the engine comes with a warranty, the same if you had a reason other than an engine fire and worse if the work is sloppy and done by "just some guy". Have a shop or BMW do it and I can't think of any reason it would effect resale.
It's not cheap to do a swap. Thought of just parting it out?
By the way, I could be totally wrong. Just my opinion, how I'd see it as a buyer.

Touched on some good points - If it's done by the dealer or reputable independent BMW mechanic, and has appropriate paperwork then it's a non-issue with most folks.

If it's Joe's garage, and it's a used Junkyard motor - If it was me buying it.... I'd avoid it.

Not beneficial in my opinion. As a buyer I'd be worried about transmission issues as a result of what required the engine swap. If done by BMW, especially under warranty, less concerning but still a car I'd probably pass on. Either way the rest of the car has the original mileage on it.

I would check with people in the know in Korea. May be entirely different than here.

I wouldn't bring it up unless you are asked. Most consumers will be concerned the engine needed replaced instead of seeing a benefit.

In the US, squat. It usually turns people off because the car may have been abused, and no one knows what the replacement engine is history wise.

Wholy crap! Korea!? What the heck are you doing driving something twice the width of most of the rural roads there!? Yikes. Adashee, Chu-gale'?
You're braver than I am and mine was armoured with a really big gun.
Busting your chops, iansanderson is right. Don't bring it up but don't hide it if it comes up.

Dont know how it is in the asian countries however personally i avoid cars like that. Truth be told if a motor had to be replaced due to whatever reason, how was the rest of the car used/abused/maint. It also means an important part of the car has been taken apart, messed with etc.

The only time i may make an exception is on something an average person may not know about or be informed, as an example to the e53s, the m62 timing failures and if it had bmw dealer paperwork on motor being done/replaced and price is right then i wouldnt worry too much.
