ECS Coil Over Conversion

Bout ready to throw the towel in on my air suspension.

Has anyone tried this kit from ECS?

https://www.ecstuning.com/News/BMW_E...006/ES2770649/

I asked what would be necessary all in to convert my 4.8is to coil and they linked me to this list of parts.

https://www.ecstuning.com/Checkout/?...tent=link2cart

This is the first time I've come across the ECS kit and the price is quite nice for H&R springs and Bilstein shocks. Hopefully this helps someone else in their search.

Might have to order it up and be the test dummy if nobody else has tried it...

Sure you can do it - then you will need to get the EHC module coded out of the VO so you dont have the error glaring on your dash.

Curious on what is so wrong with your air suspension system. If your compressor works fine, air struts or bags arent leaking, and the level sensors are working fine, the module itself is the last thing that goes bad and most of them do go bad - BMW updated the part number of the module a few years after production, part # ends in 999.

I've rebuilt the compressor, checks out fine, airbags don't appear to leak, recalibrated via gt1 many times, replaced height sensors.

Just not reliable on a daily basis and since my wife drives our kids around in it that is unacceptable. At this point it's worth it to just toss it and go static.

Then its probably the module - but no matter, I understand why you'd want to swap it out

I agree that is the next logical step. Would likely go nuts if I replaced the module and it continued.

This gets reviewed regularly and I'm probably their biggest advocate on this forum but I would just do BC (that should be in my signature). Yes its more money up front but its fully adjustable and brand new. You can sell your perfectly good suspension and recoup a lot of the difference.

I appreciate the feedback. I'm familiar with the BC coilovers but given the discussions I've had with friends in factory sponsored motorsport I will not be running them on my car.

I switched when I first got my x.
Air was completely unnecessary.
I got the bc racing coilovers and Ido highly recommend them.. adjustable dampening is probably my favorite besides the hight adjustability.

The EHC2 air suspension....does the same too!:

Via coding.....and can revert back to normal ride height....if you decided to tow a trailer and/or motorhome.
