Weird key behavior after installing aftermarket radio
![]() As is usual with these things, there were/are some issues and I'm working through them. I need to double check the antenna connection in the trunk next for weak radio reception, but that's not the reason for the post. After getting the thing working I've run into some weird behavior from the car when using the key to lock/unlock the car. When unlocking, it now lights up the fog lamps instead of the front marker lights. Weird, but not overly concerning. When I get out of the car and hit the button on the key to lock it, I get the usual beep and light flash, but then the front windows roll down. I can use the key in the door lock to put them back up, but they shouldn't be going down. After letting it sit for a few minutes, I can unlock it (with fog lamps) and if I don't open the doors, re-lock it without the windows going down. Anyone run into this before? I'm guessing it's something with the ibus app, but AVIN doesn't have it as something easily accessible.

This morning I installed a new IBUS app, and it seems to have solved this issue.
It's still weird.

It's been reported before that a bad iBus app can cause all manor of gremlins. Many of the systems on the car are controlled by "datagrams" on communication buses - bad data on the buses can produce rather odd results!

yes, it does. I kind of like it, it's just a little weird.

Does the unit have any coding apps? The iBus is probably getting feedback on it. It would be interesting to see the voltage wave form.

Yeah, a corrupted Resler module resulted in some seriously weird behavior for me. Fortunately, the IBUS app has a repair function that solved it for me after I spent a lot of time working down an apparently unnecessary diagnostic tree.

The IBUS app has a diagnostic tab which will check the firmware in the dongle. It's likely that it will find corrupted firmware and repair it. Upgrading the IBUS app likely triggered a firmware upgrade for the module with the same effect.
