My x5 tranny makes a horrible noise when engaged in drive or reverse is engaged.

Hello my fellow x5 heads. I come to you with a ver worried. My x5 recently wwent into limpo mode after a Trans Fail safe warning lit up. I was far from home maybe 50miles when I started to hear the tranny make noises soon after the car wouldnt move at all. It was only when i would turn it off and back on again tht my transmission would engaged into drive but within say maybe 2 city blocks the tranny would disengaged as if it were in neutral . I would like to upload a sound bite but dont know where. Any help is appreciated as this is my only means of transportation. Thank you in advanced.

You should get it towed to an Indy and let them dig in or, tow it home and start reading errors via BMW software. Along with a visual.

I had AAA tow to my house. I want to upload a sound bite I recorded today so anyone that hears it can give me somewhat of an idea. I have a 2003 x5 3.0 e53. 106k. where can i upload this sound bite?
