Alpine ILX-007

Hi,
I just got a Alpine ILX-007 unit for the E53. It currently has a stock business CD player (no DSP, no NAV). I am planning to do the install myself and had a couple of questions:

1.) From what I have read installing a double-DIN request "cutting" the existing frame. Is that true?

2.) If so, it does not sound reversible. In other words if for some reason I don't like the Alpine then getting the stock unit back in is going to be a challenge.

3.) Any comments/reviews/suggestion regarding the unit from members who have the ILX-007 installed in their E53?

Thanks
