Any experience with Foxwell NT510 Diag Tool from ECS Tuning?

Does anyone have any experience with the Foxwell\Schwaben NT510 diagnostic Tool from ECS Tuning?

Morning guys, let my X sit for a few weeks while the fam and I were on vaca and came home to no brake pedal. Topped off the master cylinder (it was only slightly low) and tried to pump them up only to find that I had become yet another victim of the dreaded brake line blowout. - Ended up with a huge puddle under the driver side door and having to replace all of the lines that run down that side.

Now that I have that done, I of course can't get all of the air out of my ABS block - I have pedal, but it is still much spongier than I would like it - hence my question, does anyone have any experience with the Foxwell\Schweban NT510 Diagnostic Tool from ECS Tuning?

I just ordered one, supposed to be here tomorrow actually, and they say it does pretty much everything but put gas in the car for you - LoL. That said, I've nto used one in the past and figured I would turn to you guys for any input.

Purchased it for $199 - from Anthoney over at ECS Tuning, he said this should do the trick for me, cycle the actuators in the ABS block to let me get that air out and SO MUCH more, coding, recoding, module test & rest, etc, etc.

Probably should have asked you guys first.. but hey, now that I've come to my senses, I'm asking now :-)

Sure will, I actually printed the manual from the ECS Website yesterday and am re-reading it again now before the unit arrives so that I can dive right in.

Fingers crossed it was a wise investment, I mean at a minimum I will finally be able to do all of the recoding that I've wanted to do for so long but didn't want to pay the Stealership to do...

I bit the bullet and ordered one also along with a bentley manual. I've got 3 BMWs E39 M5(2003), X5 E53 4.6is (2003), and 540iT (1999). Because it has specific BMW codes it seams worth the investment and well beyond a peak code reader.

Thanks XJay4.8, you reminded me that I totally forgot the Bentley manual, I need to jump back over and order that myself.

Mine is an 05 X5 4.4i with 90K on the clock, had it for a handful of years now and have loved it. Up to now I haven't run in to anything I couldn't do to it myself until I came up against that dreaded ABS block "air bubble trap"... Just received my unit today, had hoped to get her in to "bleed mode" and try to get the rest of the air out of my lines but that's looking like it isn't going to happen until tomorrow now. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Keep me posted on your experience with the Schwaben\Foxwell and yes, I'm very much looking forward to having my programming in my own hands too.

Will do. My unit shipped Tuesday and will be at my doorstep tomorrow (Thursday).

Hmm, still working with my Foxwell... go figure, I get mine, get my ABS bled, which it worked perfectly for by the way and then get slammed at work and have no time. So, that said, I haven't gotten to play with mine much but from what I've seen \ found so far I haven't been able to modify things like my locks, angel eyes, windows, etc, etc... like I thought I would have been able to :-(

Maybe I read the description wrong.., fingers crossed, but for some reason I got the idea that this unit had access to all of that. Anyone know if I'm crazy?? I'm definitely going to re-read the description again and see what I missed.

All that said, for a diag and actuation, reset tool, it seems to work great.

Coding a battery is quite different than coding options like lights or lock behavior. Hope you sort it out.

I started with AutoEnginuity software that will code a battery and actuate the DSC valves, but will not code the lights and so on. It was not cheap (more $ than this new thing) but I value fully supported products.

I've recently been learning INPA and DIS as I need them to code a new key on a R53. That's the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Cheap and not supported, but does EVERYTHING.

Thanks mferek, good read for sure and seems to confirm my suspisions. I think in the end this will be a solid diag and reset tool but probably not a coder in the sense that I was looking for. Seems I'll have to go another route for that stuff. I'll keep an eye on that thread as well and see where it goes over the next few days, maybe Foxwells March\April software update will add features.. though I'm not holding my breath.

That said, I can't complain, my local Dealership wanted $650 to bleed the air out of my ABS block after I ran my new lines and for $200 I was able to buy the Foxwell, set my ABS to bleed mode and save myself $450 - so all in all, I'm still saying it was a good investment for me in the end
