First off, I'm Dan. Live in Utah, have a shop here with 10 bays (which makes this worse). I currently have 5 BMW's. The E53 with 89k miles, a E38 with 170k, 2 @ E30's which one is getting a M62 swap out of a 540 and a E36 that is a parts car. I'm here to say hi and ask for help. I'm dieing here. Standing on the finish line but can't cross over. Engine cooling fan 2004 BMW E53 X5 4.8. For the life of me I cannot locate the damn fuse ANYWHERE. I have Mitchel, Identifix Google and I'm striking out here. I've checked every fuse on the 2 panels I found so I know there are other fuses somewhere. Found Glove box panel and Pass rear panel. I need to find fuse #107 for the cooling fan. it's 60a fuse so it's not like it can be all that stealthy and yet, I cannot find it. I could really use some help this time. Before I pull out the last hair on my head. I picked this up wrecked, she hit a pickup with a hitch and shoved it into well, everything. I'm all done, just need to bolt on the bumper cover and bleed the cooling system but the fan doesn't have it's 12v constant. I'm assuming the fuse is blown but... |

The ECM sends varying voltage to the fan I believe. Not sure you would get a 12v constant as Helihover mentioned.
You did not mention checking the main distro panel in the spare tire compartment just behind the driver's side rear seat. It has some of those large blade style fuses. This fuse box here.

I did check that one yes. Found it after I posted.
All was good there. The research I had done shows a constant 12v to the fan. The ecm switches thy ground. |

There is a box under the hood, pass side. It looks like where a cabin air filter is usually located. There are some relays and such in there.
FWIW in my Bentley manual it says fuse 107 is located in the glovebox fuse panel.

I'll check in the DME box again but I'm pretty sure there wasn't any fuses in there. One blue relay is all.
The panel in the glove box doesn't go to 107 ![]() Only goes to 60. |

Unlike the previous design of using a relay to provide voltage to the fan and resistors to control the speed of the fan everything is done digitally. On my 2001 M54 engine X5, the fan fuse is located in the fuse panel behind the glove box.

Looks like f107 is behind/above the regular fuse panel.
![]() ![]() You probably have this, but here it is anyway.
