Which Scantool/Software?

Well, after almost 6 yrs of DIYing the X, I FINALLY have an issue (trifecta lights) that a generic scantool won't give me enough info to resolve.

I would think the trifecta light is due to a bad ABS sensor or ABS module (rebuild time).

Those who have the software and/or Peake Scantool, which one is better going forward in defining the problem?

The easiest computer/laptop software to install is BMW Scanner 1.4. You will need to get the cable and a computer/laptop running window XP.

I used Carsoft 6.5 when I had an E34. I have since migrated to BMW Scanner 1.4. BMW Scanner 1.4 is able to read whatever modules that is in your vehicles.

For real live data I use Torque pro on my phone and tablet.

Rheingold is supposedly very easy too and works on Win10. I haven't bought it yet, but am looking into it as my copy of DIS doesn't cover my E90M3 (and I hate the vmware nonsense you have to do which you don't have to do with Rheingold's software from what I understand).

I have rheingold ista d.

I have it on a usb stick not really sure how to share. I use the free INPA pac most of the time anyway. INPA is awesome, fast, and the easiest to use.

Inpa is your best bet. Ive used it to diag trifecta on buddies X. Theres a menu in there that will show you wheel speeds in real time, launch it and start driving the X slowly in a parking lot, the one that isnt reading a speed is the bad sensor.

(Can also be a multitude of other things however inpa is quick to read/clear indepth codes).

I would think this INPA setup from Germany has a language menu to display in English.

BMW Mini Diagnose Interface Ediabas Inpa USB OBD2 Videoanleitung E60 39 E46 E53 | eBay

Has anyone purchased the INPA pkg from Germany?

All my software was free and the cable you need is about 15 bucks and its in English so you can read it!

If you are interested I can provide a link from another forum with all the info. You will also have the OP's name to pm so when you need help, you can be helped. The guy who started this thread knows all the software in and out and can be of great assistance.
