valve cover replacement

Hey everyone,
I'm getting ready to sell the x5 and one of the issue that I've always known is the valve cover leaking. Changed the valve cover gasket a couple times and the last time around the shop said the valve cover is either cracked or warped. (i used Victor Heinz gasket both times)
So looking around ebay for used valve cover i found one that came off a bmw 328 with the same part number as my x5 (3.0) part number is 11121432928.
I understand the 2.8 and 3.0 share some common parts, is it possible that the valve cover itself is the same between these two cars. Also would the valve cover from an 03 x5 3.0 work on my 01 3.0? the part numbers are different but not sure how they are different.
