If you do a forum search on "hitch" you'll see that this was a fairly recent discussion... the consensus seemed to be overwhelming that the BMW OEM hitch was the best choice.

I'll agree regarding the use of the OEM hitch. As far as the best deal, etc...It depends on where you are located. The entire kit is heavy so any savings may be negated by the increased shipping charges. CreiverBMW has been known to have some decent prices. You may also want to send Rob_ a PM to see what the current prices are.

I had my hitch installed about a year ago and I too gleaned from all the discussions that the OEM jobber was the way to go. On the other hand, I sure payed the piper for it. About $1K all said and done from the dealer.

There are some very good DIY's here, most have said it takes about 4-6 hours to do yourself with assistance.
