4x4 Light on 2004 X5 4.4 Sport

My 4x4 light came on recently and I can't find a post where someone with just the 4x4 light on has found a solution. I have seen posts with the 4x4, ABS and DSC typically point to the transfer actuator or a speed sensor, but nothing on just the 4x4 light. Any help would be much appreciated.

What are the codes that were scanned when the 4x4 light came on?

Codes

Thanks for the reply @upallnight

I only have an OBDII scanner and it did not detect any codes.

I have the same issue, only 4x4 light on and it doesn't go away with the steering wheel turn lock to lock. Before I used to be able to clear it through the Ivini app but now it doesn't even clear. See pic of fault code : Note, the app isn't very specific as it groups the abs, dsc and brake together. Maybe someone can shine in on the code?

Due to the app saying "steering angle sensor" I of course bought a new one to replace but got stuck during removal process....the steering column wouldn't budge when trying to push it into the floor and I haven't gotten any help with how to yet. However, reading on the forum I see many solved the issue by changing the yaw sensor so I'm contemplating this option now.
