x5 wont start with CPS connected

After switching the original motor with a used one, the car will not start with the camshaft sensor connected. It will crank but no start. If I disconnect the CPS from the wiring harness it starts right away. I replaced the CPS with a new one and still it wont start. I can start the engine without the cam sensor and while the engine is running I plug the CPS and the engine keeps running, but if I turn the car off it wont start unless I unplug the CPS. any ideas?

May be it has to be programmed to the car...
