Lighted door handle retrofit..

Ordered the parts for the front..
Loved the lit orange on my 04, didnt come with my 06 with many more options..
So I ordered some for fun..
Anybody done this?
If it isnt too difficult ill do the back as well..
Anyway.. Cheers happy holidays!

They should swap right in, considering both from facelift SAVs.

On some pre-facelift SAVs, the LED is there and hook up. There's just no opening on the door handle housing for them. Weird I know.
You can tap the LED to the wire for window switch illumination. I put in a set of E38 illuminated handle to the 03 E39 MSport.

Hmmm good idea tan, i'll check the parts for the handles that have holes for lighting and when I replace my regulator clips in the spring maybe I'll do the retrofit for it.

EDIT: The lit door handle is about 50 bucks apiece, too rich of a retrofit for my blood. If the LED is there though I might try to just drill a hole in the stock handles and hot glue in place. I found mrbmwx5's thread and looks like the light should be in there somewhere.

When I replaced my door carrier last Spring I wondered why there was an extra wire with a small lit light bulb. My door handle has the paint chipping and have pondered repainting them. Might as well drill a hole while I'm at it.

Well the parts arrived.. Looks to be fiber optic, hopefully there's a LED dangling aimlessly in the door somewhere! Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1387931714.852213.jpg

So Kritophe, did the dangling led look like it would fit into the clip of this?
