Coding halogen flashers to stay on with bi-xenon highs
However, I don't have that line of code in my particular LCM. EDIT: I see the PWM_FL_BIX when I open NCSExpert and go to VIEW-PSW.TRACE files, which displays all the lines of code of all ECU's (I think). However, when I try looking for it in the individual ECU's, I cant find it! In the big coding thread Jgold said he didnt have that line in his LCM either. No solutions in that thread, and he never got to post on there or anywhere I can find that he ever found a solution. Anyone? This was the one thing I was really wanting to do that got me learning to code and now is the one thing I havent been able to solve lol!

I'd like to know as well. I haven't gotten into coding yet, but like yourself, this is the very reason that I want to!

David, on most X5's the line I referenced in the OP will be in the LCM. Changing that to wert_1 will have the halogen inner lights turn on with the high beams.
I, and one other member here (both 2004 models), happen to not have that code line in our LCM. I surmise we are unlucky and that most all of the later models dont have this problem. Having an 05, you should have no problem.

Now, I just need to figure out coding hardware & software to use. Any suggestions?

Basically you will need a cable, laptop, and the software.
I got an INPA K-DCAN cable off Amazon. I gambled a bit there and just got one of the less expensive ones with good reviews. I had to solder together 2 pins (many cables will need this to work with the E53), but it works. Laptop, a Windows 7 is recommended IIRC. If not, many have gotten the software to run even on Macs with an emulator. For software, to code you will need NCS Expert. It commonly comes as a package with INPA diagnostic software, and EDIABAS, which in my layman's understanding NCS and INPA use to connect to your car. You can get them for free online, or you can buy a cable/programs package on ebay. I use downloaded software that my brother set up for me and I figured out coding from there so I cant give you much info on set up unfortunately.

Check this link for more comprehensive information and links to sources for stuff. Some of it may be outdated but most of the info there is good.
