Replacing the puddle lights in the mirrors?

I have scoured realoem.com throughly reviewing the diagrams and cannot seem to find the actual bulbs in the mirrors. The puddle lights in the mirrors are nice and both are working but just seem too dim in general. I though the to swap them out but then can't seem to find any info if they can even be replaced which makes no sense to me.

Any thoughts? Has anyone done this or found the info on them?

Any suggestions on part numbers or other info or just pull the mirror apart and figure it out?

Thanks!

Hmmm...after re-reading your post several times...I can't tell if you can't find the diagram for the mirror's bulb...or if you can't find the "actual" bulb...which would be in the mirror itself.

I'm going to assume you can't find the diagram/part nbr index for the lights...which would be BMW part nbr 63 21 7 160 908 which is a 12V 6W XENON bulb based on the info in the supplemental column. And this is for the face lift 2004-2006 e53 (I didn't see a model/model year listed).

Hope I picked right & sends you in the right direction. See #15 in diagram below.

Thank you! Correct, I couldn't find the part number for the bulb itself. Once I got that, my thought was to put in white LEDs to make then much brighter. Thank you!

Oh.. and it's a 2001 model.

Check to make sure the nbr I gave works with your VIN because I searched using my 06. If it doesn't...look for it in the LIGHTING main group & various bulb sub group.

If I remember correctly you have to remove the back cover to access that bulb and it's kind of a pain in the ass to do. There's a certain trick to it, you're supposed to push in one spot while pulling in the other....the problem is, you could break a clip if you're not careful and then you're SOL. I couldn't do it without it feeling like something was about to break so I gave up.

It's one of those things that once you get it once it'll probably be incredibly easy and quick to do any other time, but I don't want to use my mirrors as the guinea pig
