Aux cable installation. Business cd with telephone

Hi. I bought a aftermarket aux connector to my -03 x5. The cd player is marked with june-03, the car has integrated wireless telephone i the armrest. I took out the mid and cd, unplugged the audio cable from the phone, plugged in the aux cable. But no aux mode is comming up. Only jumps between cd/radio. I have a also tried with an cd player marked dec-05 with no luck. Do i need the genuine bmw cable or is anything else wrong?

Thx in advance

Could be the aftermarket adapter or something else. I had a problem getting "aux" to come up with the BMW aux adapter and a bluetooth add-on plugged into it. I'm having a little trouble understanding what exactly you did. I assume you made sure something is plugged into the auxiliary adapter (like your phone, ipod, etc.). I think it has to recognize a certain resistance to get the aux to come up.

In the big connector, on the cd's back, there is one plug with 3 wires that comes from the integrated phone. I have unplugged that and installed my aux Cable instead. If the car doesnt have the Telephone this input will be empty. (what i have read it is for the audio input from the Telephone). I have tried with my iphone as Music source. But nothing happens. Ive also read that the genuine aux Cable has an resistor built in.

Thx for the link. I watched the wideo, and its the same connector that i have unplugged and plugged my aux Cable in. In the video he had only 2 wires in the harness, i have 3 and they are in the same pin holes that my aux Cable has.

Hmmm. My BMW adapter had 3 pins as well. I pulled the pins to put into the existing harness to keep my in-car telephone but that shouldn't make a difference. Maybe just a bad aftermarket aux adapter or the pins aren't fully seated? Sorry, that sucks. I know it's a pain to keep pulling out the dash components.

Thx guys for your help. Took out the player again today and noticed after watching the video several times that i had been trying in the wrong connector. It works now and i integrated the cables in the connector like in the video
