That looks like an older Eonon unit with Android/Windows CE. The newer GA5166X unit for the E53 is pure Android and I'm not sure the newer unit has those problems anymore.

However, I just installed this Windows CE version in my 4.8 and it's not too bad. The install took some time to figure out due to the lack of instructions, but after I got it figured out, it works pretty well.

Hmm. Good to know. That's what I have; factory DSP and factory Nav. In my case the Avin people say try at your own risk. Dynavin makes no promises for me that I can find. And Eonon is sketchy? Frustrating. May just got to a stereo shop and pay the $$$. There is a point where DIY starts taking too many days of our very short lives.

I'm sorry, did you say that your car had factory DSP and factory Nav? Which model of Eonon did you install? Thanks.

I purchased the D5166XU. It came with a harness that runs back to the rear of the vehicle, and it basically plugs in inline along with everything else (if you plug the original in-dash unit back in, it will still power up and control the OBC functions like setting the clock, etc., and you can adjust the DSP settings with it - I just did this yesterday to turn off all the EQ settings to avoid them doubling up with the Eonon unit's EQ). It's no Alpine unit, but it was pretty much plug and play once you figure out just what to plug where. My steering wheel controls will control the volume. Bluetooth works pretty well. GPS works. Radio works well. CD player works. Haven't attempted music from SD card yet, though.

So which one is better? Android or window unit?
Because I may upgrade it to newer one. Thanks |
