Retrofit non-reclining rear seat to electronic reclining seat possible?

As the subject said, is it possible to do the retrofit? If possible, what parts do I need to do it? Thanks for help!

I have this in my X, they only "recline" around 15 deg.

Hardly "reclining" in my book.

I think most who want this option think they go way back.

RealOEM will have the parts lists for both styles.

Thanks for the input. How about wiring? is it pre-wired or I need to buy harness to install?

Did you see this thread from Monday 6/13/16? This forum member posted about installing the rear reclining seats. He didn't post instructions...but you could possibly contact them for info or ask him to post more details: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...t-working.html

Agreed. In my 9 years of ownership of my X5, I have used this feature may be two or three times, and even then I was just playing with it. I have never seen or needed its utility probably because it doesn't recline much - 15-20 degrees thereabouts.

I understand that, but it is still better than nothing, right? Just like the chairs in planes, it only recline a little bit, bit still much better than nothing when in long distance flight.

Have you actually checked this feature out real good on an X5 with it? You might find out a retrofit is not really worth all the trouble and money.

I have kept mine in RR almost all the time. I have used the rear controls to push it up forward if I happen to need that extra 2-3 inches in the trunk.

IMO, the RR is a WIN on the car though....couldn't image one without.
