Looking for an 12v ignition wire under hood?

Want to wire up my halos to a ignition driven 12v source. Does anyone know of one under the hood already?

2001 X5 3.0

Thanks

Wouldn't you piggyback those through the running light circuit?

I want to use them and daytime running lights. I thought about connecting them to the park lights but its a two wire system so they would flash when the turn signals work. I was hoping I could use the cooling fan but its hot all the time, even with ignition off. I dont see an easy way to run one from the glovebox fuse box.

Check the relay box under the hood (passenger side). There is a wire in there. I believe it's red/yellow. VERIFY THAT FIRST though. I have my halos triggered by the interior lights, and then the relay switches over to +12v from under hood input upon starting the vehicle.

Keep in mind mine is an LCI (04-06) model, but I think that wire should be present on earlier versions too.

Dont see a relay box on the passenger side. There is a wire harness on the
pass side that comes through the engine compartment wall but it looks like it originates from the plastic box that I guess houses the computer and I dont want to mess with that. Didnt think it was going to be this hard to locate a wire

Yeah, you have to remove some stuff to get to it, but it's not that bad. Here, found the info I posted when I was looking for this exact information. The wire is actually RED/WHITE, not RED/YELLOW like I posted above. Pictures show you what you will be looking for.

Thanks Crystalworks, I found the wire and everything is good. Halos work and look great. Wired them up today after I replaced the power steering hoses and reservoir for bad leak.
