Cam Position Sensor locations...
I got the X5 running yesterday, but I'm getting two codes and my suspension is still inactive... Codes: P0706 and P0024... I think I have the driver side cam sensors in the wrong locations and would like to verify since Realoem doesn't specify the cable version for my vehicle... It says all four should be the same... So, I have the cable sensor on the intake camshaft and the one that is like the other side on the exhaust... Is that correct or do I likely have them backwards? Here are the different sensors... I didn't make a note that there were different ones for the driver side and similar ones for the passenger side... ![]() I'll update the project thread in a day or so with all the pictures I have and such... Thanks all!!! Cheers!! |

You have no signature with model or engine info...kinda hard to be helpful with unknown engine.

Good point! My fault! I'm documenting the N62 rebuild in another thread... "My Project"... I'm working on that N62 4.4L here...

Good day all!
Well, it looks like it is correct the way I have it. So, I must be off slightly with the cam timing on that 5-8 exhaust cam. OR the tone ring on the back end of the cam has moved slightly, if that is even possible! I think I can get away with just pulling that cover and checking the timing. I may have had the chain tensioner tool to tight or too lose for the initial timing session. Cheers all!

Good day all!!
Well, just an update to this tread... I got home from work today and decided to tackle the issues I still have with the 5 after the motor rebuild... All the issues I had prior to this afternoon were: Amber brake Amber DSC 4x4! SES -transmission failsafe program -exhaust cam bank B over advance and the infamous selfleveling inop... All except the self leveling and random trans failsafe are still present... I guess there was still air trapped in the system after the rebuild... But... I'm fine with it working!! not sure about the tans failsafe, but the air ride is a shorted compressor... Cheers all!!!
