2001 X5 10 min timer not counting down
Hi I got locked out of my X5 Yesterday, I got in the hood and hooked up a starter Pack and got the thing open. Asking for code I have tried 0000 to no avail. Got this out of the book and get to the of the count down but the clock stays at 9:59 After three incorrect code entries, or three attempts to start the engine without a code entry, the alarm will sound for 30 seconds on vehicles fitted with an alarm system. Deactivating the alarm in an emergency: If you have forgotten the code, proceed as follows: 1. Disconnect the battery, wait approx. 2 minutes, then reconnect it. Note that on vehicles with an alarm system, the alarm will sound 2. Set the ignition key to position 1: The time display will count down for the next ten minutes 3. After ten minutes, start the engine. [email protected] Last edited by TASTAB; 07-15-2016 at 05:41 PM. Reason: Add email |

Good day!
I see you have your email address included... Did you get a response from someone yet? It looks as if you have the procedure... The only reason I would imagine it not working is if the battery is weak... Let us know please... Cheers!!

1. make sure battery has enough charge (as already mentioned)
2. make sure that you are following instructions exactly as written...for example, some will unknowingly turn the ignition to position 2...then wonder why its not working. You must use ignition position 1 (which is KL R)...not position 2 (which is KL 15).

I'd say leave the battery disconnected for 30 mins... also, make sure all the doors and hatches are closed... hood, rear hatch, yada, yada... may not say it, but ya gotta do it for key programming so maybe this too...
Good luck and keep us posted...

OK got the car started by removing fuse 43 Instrument Cluster .
Popped the fuse back in and it is still showing the code input screen, any way of getting the comp screen back. Thanks for all your help so far 8-) |
