Clockwork is on a distinguished road
CrowsNest Pass, Alberta Wheel Key emergency

Hi guys.
So in need or help from a very local person if possible.
I'm driving myself and 3 friends to weekend stag party and suffered a flat in rear with lock nuts on and apparently my key is in garage at my house. 250 kms from my house.
Is anyone around and feel like a nice drive down to me so I can then use my spare?? Or bring me a tire patch kit

Wife to the rescue even tho she was on a weekend get away too. So I ruined her night and mine. This is awesome. But nothing more than a 1st world problem. $500 for a new tire (I got a massive nail) and 6 hours behind time

Why do people lock their wheels and not leave the key/tool to unlock the wheels in the car? If you'are afraid that someone is going to steal your wheels, you need to move to a better neighborhood. Most professional thieves won't bother to remove the wheels, they'll steal the entire car.

And, a $5 tool that simply breaks/torques off the wheel lock, if they just wanted the wheels...

But, glad it worked out. We drove from Vancouver to Kamloops to Banff, to Jasper, to Calgary and back down to MT, in our VetteVert a few summers ago. Mountainous BC & Alberta are places to behold!

I have never ever before forgotten to put the key back in my x5.
I just installed spacers the week before on the front wheels and therefore no longer needed the factory 19mm lug bolts, and in my infinite wisdom when I was putting the factory lug bolts in a bag I forgot to remove the key from a lock lug and so it sat in the bag till my brother-in-law could track it down late friday night in my garage.

and yes the first thing I did when I got home yesterday was buy 4 BMW lug bolts and therefore removed those bloody lug locks and they and the precious key are sitting in a box in a drawer now.
My car sits in a garage during day and night so little worry about them getting stolen.
If someone wants my wheels, you're right, they will be stolen regardless.

And this is kinda funny cause I just told my wife this on her summers when we put them on a few months ago...

moral of story: don't use lug locks OR always make sure the key is in vehicle somewhere.
