4.6is exhaust with free rattle
So, I picked up a good set of rear mufflers off a sad Emola red is (hurt my heart to see her like that) anyway, got the exhaust home to clean it up and found there is a bolt/ in there (probably why she was in rough condition with no motor). Besides dissecting the muffler, I’m thinking there is a cup and ball catch the bolt out of there, but a cutaway/ internal diagram/layout of the muffler would really help. Knowing that most of you had been there and done that, and from all over the world, my hopes is you folks being smarter than o would have some tricks, tips, use the force ideas to get the bolt out and not have a baby rattler for an exhaust note. Cup and ball is probably pretty accurate.
Maybe magnet on a string ??

I thought about that, but could lose the magnet also. Figured a cutaway would really help.
Picture this... shopvac hose taped to one end to blow/suck as I’m shaking the dang exhaust in hopes to blow/suck out the bolt/nut. Sent from my iPhone using Xoutpost.com

I can't see that working. I think gravity is the key here. Maybe if the bolt is still in the first stage you could see it with a bendy-lite or lit mirror thingy with muffler on end? Is there any magnetic parts or is it all stainless ?

Endoscope would really help here I think. If i had stock mufflers (not dinan) I'd shoot a video for you.

My endoscope has a magnetic tip won’t leave the magnet behind and you can name exactly at the bolt. You could use something really sticky like the black tar like internal door sealant

How about a line of rare earth magnets Gooped inside the end of a piece of vinyl hose all from Home Depot? Practice on something before you launch into recover mode.

Got it! Wasn’t a bolt/nut, but a chunk of the cat. Hooked up a shop vac, shook the muffler and pop! No more rattle! Can’t post from my phone, photos are too large.
