parking brake tight but...

just adjusted my hand brake following the DIY on PP and various other posts.

Finally got it tight. Max height is now 5-6 clicks. Before it would go beyond 10 clicks and still not grab.

Now it can stop the vehicle from rolling whereas before adjustment it wouldn't do anything

BUT,

if I'm in gear, D or R, with e-brake up the car will move.

Initially it would grab right after adjustment, but second time trying, it will move while in gear.

Should I be:

1)adjusting more at cable end
2)adjusting more at wheel
3)leave it alone its fine

Thanks for reading.

I have never heard of a parking brake being able to overpower the engine. If it'll sufficiently hold the car parked on a hill then it's doing its job.

^This - plus the PARKING brake is not meant to hold back the car under engine power. As long as its not dragging its working as it should.

Agreed with all of the above responses The X is my first vehicle that's not a stick. On all my other vehicles the ebrake should be able to stop vehicles from rolling on hills if parked in neutral, not meant to stop them while under engine load...
