Headlamp washer spray nozzle delete
EDIT: fixed problem I was having (in post 6) so I won't delete system at this moment but will in future IF I can find a cheap perfect condition bumper cover in my color...
Hi guys. I have to say I hate the BMW headlamp washer system. Has anyone else deleted the sprayers (also making it nicer to replace headlight bulbs?) Is it possible to buy a cap piece to cover hole in bumper after the sprayers are removed? I'm gonna eBay it a bit but I notice realoem does not show a factory part to buy. You can replace the entire bumper cover with a cover that didn't have the headlight washer system, like mine X5.

Used bumper cover can be had for under $200 American bucks. And if you're lucky you might find one in your X5 color.

How about just unplugging the pump?

since I didn't explain the problem in first post (just asked if anyone deleted the system before), I'll accept this as a substitute to deleting the system.
the reason I'd like to delete the system tho is it was causing an odd issue and instead of pumping more money into fix it I'd rather remove those useless nozzels in front and therefore making it easier to remove headlamps in future.

I just disconnected the H/L washer pump as I NEVER used them. The only time they fired off was inadvertently touching the switch or on the 5th washer/wipe activation. Either way I end up with a wet hood, wet front bumper, and more streaks to clean off with Speed shine before it dries. If that crap dries on a 100+ degree day you are in for a fun time..... Ever seen clear coat after washer fluid boils away from direct sun? There goes the clear coat. Hello pock mark.
Now the headlamp removal issue: How often do you do that?

Leaky sprayer nozzle fixed
I have never liked the headlamp sprayers on any BMW and even stopped using it on my 330Ci and my 850i.
The pressure is great for a few seconds but when the spray dries off its a hazy headlamp then, so I'm still stuck cleaning it by hand regardless. ALSO on the e53 it makes the headlamp removal a bit more challenging. So after getting the problem I did (yet now solved) I was going to delete it. SO here is what happened: Headlamp sprayer pump died, installed a new FEBI brand pump, as soon as I did the 4 headlamp nozzles started leaking fluid instantly. So I tried using the pump a few times and its working great but still the 4 nozzles leaked till tank is empty essentially. So even though I hate the system, I did just pay for a new pump so I figured I may as well see if I can revive the system before I totally pass it off and delete it. I disconnected the hose that come from pump and that leads to the distribution T and I blew into it. I blew till all fluid was out and just air from my mouth was blowing out the nozzles. Then I sucked backwards for a bit and then blew through again and then sucked backwards again for good measure. I re-connected the hose and behold... a non leaking set of 4 nozzles, and no leaks anywhere else either. So I left it over night and didn't write this till I knew this solved my issues. I checked the floor this morning and the washer fluid reservoir and the headlamp nozzles and allllll were dry. So I used the nozzles this morning on way into work and perfect, then looked at nozzles again to check for leaking and still no leaking anymore. SO lesson is, if you have leaking nozzles, disconnect the hose and blow and suck on the hose for a few seconds to see if potentially you too can fix the leaky nozzles problem MANY bimmers (including my old 330Ci) have before replacing any parts. I'm not sure if the distribution piece somehow gets stuck in an open position and sucking/blowing on the hose fixes the issue. I didn't experiment before with the system, but I do know even when the pump is not running fluid will still pass through and flow out of pump when the hose is disconnected and therefore there must be a "pressure gate" inside the distribution piece that holds back fluid until it sees higher fluid pressure from the pump activating. BTW, I now have a new distribution piece to sell since I didnt need to install it

Two (2) years ago, I removed the fuse for the HL pump to conserve juice.
The HL system uses a lot of juice and most of the time it is useless anyway. I'd rather save the juice for the windshield glass. So far so good with the fuse removed.
