20s on the X too small?
Well I talked to the dealership in my area and they are going to give the 4.6 20s for $3700 w/ tires. For the people with 20s on your X5. Do you guys think you can go bigger? or 20 are good size?

i even find 19inch more than enough for the comfort. 20 seems to me very hard driving
, but if you want 20's you have to make some adjustments for accuracy on the speedometer

I like the 20's. Personally I think anything over a 20" rim destroys the look/style of the vehicle and draws all attention to the wheel. Wheels should compliment the car, not steal the show IMO.

Personally I like how 22's look on an X5, but potholes and low aspect ratio tires don't mix very well. The way they pave streets here in L.A., a sprinkle can cause potholes to open up. For me, 20's is probably a good safe limit.

I think 20's are the best size, but definitely see the attraction of the bigger wheel. When I switched from my 18s I wanted to go 20s, but was worried about ride quality. I ended up going 19s and the ride difference was very noticeable. It is harsher, noiser, and handled a lot better and a little worse. The staggered setup gave me a tram lining effect that I do not like. I have put up with it because I like the looks and I haven't ridden any tires on my 19s except the used Diamaris that came on them. It is almost tire time and I'm hoping they make the difference.

IMO, 20's are not at all too small - I think they look great. However, I've driven 18's, 19's, & 20's and I noticed the biggest difference between the 19's & 20's. The handling was noticeably improved with the 20's, but the ride quality & noise were negatively affected to about the same degree. I'm typically one to prefer handling at the cost of the ride, but in this case, the change to 20's was just too harsh & noisey for me (can't believe I said that), so I'm sticking w/19's which I think are a good balance.

I upgraded from 18s to 20s last year, and didn't notice any deterioration in ride comfort, noise, etc. The handling was a lot better though.
I'm not sure how some folks are finding significant difference in ride comfort when moving up to bigger wheels (at least going from 18-20s). I would think it would have more to do with the tire thats put on the rims. I put Toyo Proxies on my 20s and think they are a very good tire. No complaints about them yet, but haven't had them for a year yet to figure that out (plus, I only use them for Spring-Fall). Maybe trying a different tire would smooth the ride for some?
