tire wear query

Hello all, Got vredsrein wintrac all the way around. After 9000miles the wear on rears is not even visible! Whereas up front maybe tread depth has been halved compared to rears, and outer edges have about 1inch wear where the tread is nearly gone…..

Question is do the fronts wear out faster in general due to the fact that there is more friction when cornering ? and my outer tire wear do I need to get a full alignment & balancing done or can the front be done only seeing as the rears are fine….?

PS don’t kick me for saying this but they are winter tires and av. Temps out here are hmmm never actually get below 5C with temps most of the year being about 20C and up

Well that's pretty warm for winter tires for starters. Thatll contribute to one accelerated wear. But really it sounds like your alignment is way off. You need to do a four wheel alignment

Yes, why would you be running winters on warm temperatures?

If the middle is wearing more than the edge, then it sounds more like an inflation problem rather than an alignment problem.

The rears usually wear at a slightly greater rates than the fronts, at least on my '04 x-Drive

Must have been a pretty good deal to make up for the fact you'll be replacing them early and often at those temps.

Increase front tire pressure. 32 in fronts. 28-30 in rears. See how the wear is again in a month
