Isn't this a Euro only DVD player?

I'm guessing there would be issues with getting it to work with the US NTSC system

Doesn't look like a BMW OEM one in the picture, as I would think it would say BMW not AutoVision on the unit

Also seems outrageously priced. For that amount, I'd put in headrest monitors plus a whole lot more.

Interesting, thanks for clarifying.

If you are looking to do the overhead rear video, here's something for you to consider (should be the right color for you, too)

no. i'm interested in the all in 1 euro model. the player is there with the screen. seems much more convenient and the whole kit looks smaller and less cumbersome than the us one
thanks for the link but i have sport package anyway.

I think it looks quite big compared to this (and very expensive):

10.2" TFT LCD FLIP DOWN CAR MONITOR 16:9 W/ DVD PLAYER + IR HEADPHONE
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38649

8" TFT LCD FLIP DOWN OVERHEAD MONITOR W/TV
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38650

17.1" TFT LCD FLIP DOWN CAR CEILING MONITOR W/ IR HEADPHONE

Yes, but those aren't OEM and would require removing or relocating the rear interior light housing, which houses the motion detector for the alarm.
you seem to be fixated on cheap. cheap isn't always what you want in a 60,000 USD automobile.

Expensive stuff is not always the best you can get, if you think that you're making it easy for you wallet. The Custom flip-down screen's looks nicer and some have more options then OEM.
Well go for it if you think the OEM set-up is worth the money!

A custom flip-down screen will it affect the alarm (motion detector)?

If you're thinking about the bulbs the light is bright as SilverVision in my opinion. You seems to have cash overflow, buy some and try

The motion detector is built into the rear overhead console. If you have to move (or remove) the rear overhead console to mount the aftermarket overhead system, you will lose the motion detector that monitors the interior of your X5.
That's what X5Monkey is trying to say.

Okay, I have planed to mount the screen one step behind the overhead consol (where the sunroof is on X5's with that option).
