Ideas on where to find coolant leak (VIDEO)

Noticed a big coolant leak on the 2002 4.4 yesterday.

It's coming from the front of the engine, dripping from the pulleys and belts. ENGINE has dried coolant marks all over from the top view.

Replaced the water pump about a year ago along with new hoses attached to it.

Culprit?

- water pump?
- valley pan?
-is the alternator water cooled? Possible leak?
-hoses?

Thanks.

I would go buy a harbor freight radiator pressure test kit. I have one and used it to confirm a leak in my radiator on my e46.

With a 20% off coupon they are pretty cheap.

You are going to have to pressure check it to see where the culprit lies. In any event depending on how many miles you have on the X at some point you will want to change all the hoses. Valley pan leaks normally show signs at the back of the engine dripping down through the bellhousing. You have a pretty good leak so it should not be too difficult to determine where it is doing the pressure check. You may also want to wash down the engine to get a clear path to the leak.

Just checked out harbor freight and they have it for $80...I'm gonna go get one. I did idle the X5 for a while and checked under and noticed a hose was leaking. Hope that's the only one.

Hey guys quick question, I decided to replace the power steering reservoir hoses and while trying to disconnect them, the hose clip for the quick release was so brittle that it broke off. CAN the hoses still me removed another way? THANKS again.
