Yes, the damage is already done (the seal is already broken). After putting on a new seal, use this product.

i see that already. the replacement o-ring will cost about $15 shipped to my door so im trying to find something local before i have to order that one

WAY Too cold is worse than you think. The thermostat is designed to allow a fast warm up. You can add additional heat sinks to expel too much heat if you are towing etc. There are lots of posts on that topic.

I can see someone removing the thermostat in hope of curing his trans fail issue when the trans get up to operating temperature.

If that is the reason for removing the thermostat, It's time to DUMP the X.

I hope you inform the new owner about the mod with the trans thermostat. LOL

never said i was doing it. just trying to get some knowledge cause i never knew my transmission had its own thermostat
