Adios X5

i get rid of my 2006 X5 4.4... i guess i lost patience after more than $10k in repairs in 4 years plus the $400 in gaz per month.

I just want a thank you all sincerley. This is the greatest Forum thanks to the quality of the members...

I've switched to the silver Star Brand GLA 250 2017 sport pack, carplay, moon roof, Nav...

I'll keep my 128 2012 though

Happy holliday season to all !!

yes and when this car is running clean, it's a blast, unfortunatly things broke one after one non stop. With the winter that we have here you need something top shape and fuel efficient....but again, when it runs its really fun !!

Take care

What was the mileage on the X when you got rid of it?

Wow, that is pretty low. I am assuming that you completed all of the "big ticket" repairs on it?

I don't blame you, the facelifted X5 4.4's had one of BMW's worst V8's ever. That's why I'll never buy an X5 newer than 2003.

I can't blame the OP. With BMW's, it's next to impossible to say I'm done with the big items now I can keep it.
Case in point: I got my X5 2.5 years ago with 93k miles and even though it was southern vehicle with 2 owners, dealer maintained only (that's part of the problem) and it already had number of big tickets done (valley pan, alternator, TC cover etc..) I still had number of things go bad in span of 2 years / 12k miles
Fortunately, about 95% of work is done by me so I can handle it financially.
When you pay astronomical labor prices to incompetent dealer or Indy who's shafting it to you on parts prices, it gets old quickly.

Exactly... probably a good investment would have been a mechanical course level III and the time ....but honestly i was not expecting so many problems

I've paid de X5 $18k in 2012 for a 2006 + $10k in repairs less sold at $6k = net $22k or $500 per month (plus gaz $400 oer month = $900 .....now i have the benz brand new for $620 per month plus $250 in gaz per month = $870 (net saving $30) and in 4 years i give it back for a new 2021....headache free :-).... but again loved the X5 and the forum and i have no regret.... take care
