Replace Entire Door

So i got another X5 this weekend as a donor vehicle for it's truffle brown interior. (i currently have gray and do not like it one bit, i would do grey leather with black rug and dash, that would look good i digress) This car happens to have the same exterior color so i was planning on swapping out the entire drivers door because my door has chips and evidence of an attempted break in or one of the previous owners was a dope.

I have not seen any posts about this, and really couldn't find any information on this.

what are your thoughts? is this a stoopid idea? i've swapped doors on cars before but nothing from the year 2000 and newer so i'm wondering if i'm in for a world of hurt.

assumptions is that i'll have to disconnect the battery before attempting.

the Grey interior one is a 2006 and the brown interior one is a 2004.

after a quick inspection i saw a reverse star pattern bolt. I'll need to get a socket for that.

Be sure to follow the rules for disabling the airbags, may give unpleasant surprise.

The door wiring is all in one harness, you take out one screw and "pull the plug"

pull the battery and wait a few minutes was all i was planning on doing. I think i'm gonna keep my airbags cause those are the ones that will show up for any recalls.

then keep the ones in the other vehicle for the same reason.

I did the door swap, its easy!! hinges are simple to pull apart, the doors are surprisingly heavy!
DO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY, then drain any residual capacitor charge by touching the two wire leads together (NOT while either one is still connected to the battery!!!!!!!)
I removed the door panel, and disconnected the door swing stopper first (forget the technical name for it!!) then the harness.
good luck!!!
