Recommended programming software?!
Good day all!! (I think we need a programming / coding section)
I have been doing a lot to my 2004 4.4L and my new-to-me amazing 2002 4.6is... I've been fighting the 2004 for about eight months or so... I rebuilt the motor which took some time to make sure all the "i's" were dotted and "t's" were crossed, and then verified again just for good measure... It took some time with parts and the such... But this EGS module made by Bosch, used in the ZF 6hp26 transmission for BMW is just killing me!! I think it is one of a very few items I can't physically program with WinKPS or code with NCS Expert... SOOOOOO, I got the ICOM A and installed ISTA/P on a BMW dedicated computer... I programmed the EGS exactly the way I have read time and time again, but it just isn't right... Like, so far from being right, I should put the original back in... Likewise, I have programmed the LCM in the 4.6is also with issues... If I had to guess, it is like the program info I have is from the 1970's, which I know is impossible... The LCM should be a very basic program... But after the program, I don't have fogs that stay on, and I don't have front side markers with my headlights on (just driving lights)... I'm tempted to program the whole vehicle, but I'm worried I might just brick every module in the vehicle... Now, I know I need a power supply... And the use of my idling Durango hooked up to the X's via two sets of jumper cables might not pass in some garages, but I had 13.36-13.76 volts the entire time... The high output alternator with the Hemi motor just grinned and kept going... Sure, I burned up $28 bucks in gas an hour, but........ Having said ALL that to ask this: Should I get a more E53-ish user friendly program software OR keep going with the ICOM and ISTA/P?? I think it is PA Soft.... And one other one that my tired brain can't think of... I got the ICOM and ISTA/P for future program use, but it's useless unless it works for my E53 which I have right now... Anyone have crazy amazing luck programming replacement modules with something other than ISTA/P??? Or maybe point me in a different direction with the ISTA/P that I might be missing? Thanks guys and gals!!! Cheers!!
