Anyone using a dash cam?

Heya-

I've been thinking of picking up a dash cam for a while. My thinking is it's a cheap way to add a bit of security (motion sensing), insurance (g-force triggered recordings) and amusement (video of my wild adventures / dull commutes).

Ideally I'd be looking for something that:
  • Mounts on or behind the mirror so I don't have to see it
  • Has a front facing and rear facing camera
  • Can integrate with my Eonon HU
  • Automatically manages recording/saving/deleting
  • 1080P, 170 degree feed

There are a couple I've seen but none hit all my boxes.
Thoughts? Anyone using one?

I've been thinking of getting one as well but not so much for security than as for accident liability and maybe as a backup camera. They have been getting better and the prices coming down to where I can almost afford one!

Depending on which Eonon you have you can use a small usb camera which costs about $19 on ebay. Just be wary where you put it behind the mirror as it may interfere with auto dimming (if you have it).

Haven't you wondered what mysteries occur on the other side of the rearview mirror? Have you never imagined the joys and tragedies of that world you cannot see? What man hasn't set cruise control, stood through his sun roof, and whilst steering with his foot leaned forward in a vain attempt to catch a glimpse through the windshield of that enchanted place?

Madness you call it!? Fine, then let it be madness. If it soothes your soul to believe I meant I wanted a separate camera for the back window, so be it.

Arent these standard issue in Russia?

In all seriousness, I recall very recently a published article on rating of dash cams and features; Ill dig in recent periodicals when home.
