So I recently ordered some rear upper hatch trim.
Looks like the parts are sprayed....
The original parts - it was a beige base plastic and then sprayed to the OE color....
The replacement - it is 2017 afterall, some areas of the backside were not finished but it's glossy black plastic, and the finish is sprayed to OE beige
Which got me thinking. Do you suppose in some HQ, this part was literally sprayed prior to being fulfilled to the dealer who then in turn shipped it to me.
Just thinking, and granted we are talking different things-semantics as these are interior pieces, but man, it would be awesome sauce if exterior parts ordered could just come painted -- granted, best practice is to get paint color matched at time of install due to varying uv coloration differences, etc.
Just had to get this off the soapbox. I would not mind paying a small upcharge to have it delivered with part painted ;-)
Saves alot of hassle with bodyshop time....especially a good busy one
