Seicane head unit for E53

Hi guys,

Are any of you guys running this unit, or heard of it?

Car DVD player for BMW X5 E53 with gps radio tv bluetooth

I 'm looking to add a backup camera to my factory system. My wife really needs this feature. I don't have the TV option in my menu, so I assume I would need to buy additional equipment at cost. I Might as well look into replacing the head unit since the pixels are kind of messed up.

Your feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

There are a host of knock off BMW head units available and only a few are supported within the US. I know the appeal of the discounted price is high but if anything happens how do you get a) service or b) your money back?
I have researched this lately and came across one person who returned a defective unit for refund and the Chinese Customs seized and destroyed his returned defective unit. If you want any of these units then a US based supplier offering US based support, repair and return policies is your best bet.
Stay away from the "cheap" offerings as they can turn out very expensive in the end.

You're welcome. i might add that Dynavin N6 and the Avin Avant-2 seem to be the best liked units of those who bought. More expensive but if the CEO has to have it then you are going to have to get her what works.

This looks close enough to the others like Eonon that it is likely produced and sold by the same ODM. In these units, the OS and other features are really the only difference between one brand and another. Function follows these differences of course, so some difference can be inferred.

I put an Eonon in my wife's E46 last week. For less than $300 it is something I would do in my E53 without a question. It's not perfect. It's not always the fastest experience. Today, for example, I had to manually launch the radio app on start. I'd played last night with Torque Pro and a Bluetooth OBD2 reader.

As long as you enter ANY device with a clear understanding that no seller anywhere has suggested your experience is anywhere close to OE across:
  • fit- I had to file some plastic on install
  • finish- the glare makes the screen unreadable @ times
  • function- goofy things like manual start of radio. Buggy software reminds me of an Android phone from 2012

But.. neither are the things they *can* do:
  • Real Bluetooth function- clear, nice volume calls and music streaming with data on head unit
  • Google Calendar- my family life runs on a series of calendar events to keep us on the same page.
  • Any Android app- My smart home app runs from my head unit
  • Rear Camera- never offered in an E53
  • Updated Navigation- Apps and maps of your choice
  • DVD AV out- Easily hook up rear seat video
  • Screen cast- cast your android or apple phone to your HU
The value assigned to that additional function and to the troubles they come with are for any of us to assign for ourselves.

Thanks for the feedback. Any thoughts on Dynavin N6 and the Avin Avant-2?

Both have long threads on this forum - for the most part both are well regarded with excellent support - the consensus is if you have DSP the easiest unit to fit is the Dynavin N6 and Jeff who is their distributor is super helpful -
